How to taking selfie at home?

When you have some time for yourself, do you prefer hanging out, or staying at home?

After working hard for a week, you might be so tired that staying at home sounds perfect. Plus, you long time not to take good-looking photos for yourself at home! Don't worry, I've got you covered! Today, I'll teach you how to take stunning selfies at home using everyday props. Beautiful selfies are within reach!

1. Using Curtains

First, prepare a mobile phone and a tripod. I'm using an iPhone 13 for this tutorial. Turn on portrait mode and use the front camera. It has a built-in beauty function, making it easy to adjust your pose by looking at the picture.

Everyone has curtains at home, right? Move a chair or a sofa to the window. Sit between the curtains and interact with them, as if you're playing fun. Set the timer for 10 seconds, giving you enough time to adjust your posture and facial expression. The pictures taken while you're playing look more natural.

The curtains look great when photographed

You can also hold the edge of the curtain with one hand and stretch it in front of the lens to create a slightly blurred foreground, adding a sense of depth and making the photo look more dynamic.

Wrap yourself with the curtain and show just a bit of your face—so cute!

Try using the curtain to block parts of your body, like your shoulders or eyes. When taking selfies, if you’re unsure of your pose, just play with the props around you and keep a relaxed, natural attitude!

Experiment with different filters or styles on your phone to see which one enhances the scene. I chose the soft focus light and shadow mode on the iPhone 13, which made the picture hazy and soft.

2. Use the Mirror

After taking selfie with curtains, let's turn our attention to the mirror! There are countless ways to use it for selfies. Are you still taking the classic mirror selfies? Let's switch it up!

For a small mirror, try covering one eye and adjust the angle to reflect your phone on the tripod. Since the phone uses the front camera, your movements and poses will also appear in the mirror, making the picture more interesting.

For a larger mirror, place the frame close to the front camera, creating a symmetrical reflection so two of you appear on the phone screen. When the frame is near the camera, it will automatically blur, adding a layered effect to the picture.

To avoid a monotonous background, I chose the vapor wave/green-orange light and shadow filter on my phone, making the photo more vibrant and rich.

You can also position the mirror close to your cheek, reflecting half of your face with an emotional expression. If the mirror has no frame, the effect will be even better!

3. Use a Night Light

When night falls, use a night light for some creative selfies. Sit on the sofa and place the night light behind you, creating a silhouette.

If you're using an iPhone 13 at night, remember to turn on the night mode to avoid noise in your photos. With night mode, the dual soft lights will also turn on automatically, improving the image quality.

With the night light as the only bright source behind you, the photo will highlight your silhouette, emphasizing your posture and outline. Try using a dried flower as a prop, raising your hand gracefully. The outline of your side profile will look beautiful. Turn your face left or right, about 45 degrees or parallel to your shoulder. Hold the flower next to your cheek or smell it—gorgeous!

If your night light emits warm light, shoot in front of a window. The warm light contrasts with the cool blue light outside, making the picture more captivating.
